Rello accounts are enabled for card payments using our online services using the major cards. Rello doesn't operate POS machines.

Card payments enable customers to pay an agent a requested amount immediately via credit/debit card, either as a stand-alone "pay now" request or an option alongside a finance product.

In either case, the payment is processed immediately by Rello, with real-time notifications provided to the agent, and funds settled to the agent's preferred bank account usually on the next business day.

Card surcharge

Card payments attract a surcharge per payment, paid by the customer - the rate per card is displayed on the payment page, as is the dollar value of the fee and total amount to be debited from a card. This means the requested amount is the amount that will be disbursed to the agent, making reconciliation simple (and providing a free card payment service).

Refunds

Refunds are not currently supported via the agent portal - we recommend agents arrange refunds directly with customers where necessary.

We're updating this feature shortly - watch this space.

Charge backs

Card payments do present a risk of "charge backs" - where a customer can contact their bank and challenge a debit on their account, and the bank is able to debit those funds back from Rello before requiring Rello to present evidence to verify the payment is legitimate (and should be returned to Rello).

In the case of a charge back, Rello is acting on the agent's behalf and will present the required information to retrieve the payment from the bank:

  • Fees involved in the dispute will be charged to the agency (the banks and Rello's card services providers will typically charge fees of $25-50 or more, per instance of a chargeback), noting that such fees are charged regardless of the dispute being resolved or not

  • If Rello is unsuccessful in retrieving funds, the agency will be required to reimburse Rello - remember, the payment was really debited back from the agency, Rello is simply the payment service
